1) If By Land from Exit 74 off of I-95 (from either direction)

Get off at Exit 74 (Route 161); make a right off the exit ramp onto 161.
This is Flanders Road which becomes Pennsylvania Ave. Follow 161 to the end (approximately 3 miles); Niantic Bay is directly in front of you across the RR tracks.

Make a right turn onto Route 156 - this is Main St. Drive about 1/2 mile, cross RR tracks, turn left on to Baptist Lane across from McDonalds Restaurant on your right. See the "Hole in the Wall" directly ahead.

The unloading area and road to the parking area will be on your right as you approach the "Hole in the Wall". The launching beach is through the Hole in the Wall and to the right. The Registration Tent is in McCook Park at the west end of the Hole in the Wall Beach. Opti Parking is on the grassy slope below the tent.

2) If by Sea

Accessed from Long Island Sound, Niantic Bay is located on the northern shore of eastern Long Island Sound west of New London. The Niantic Bay YC is on Niantic Bay on the west shore of Niantic Bay. See Nautical Chart #12372. Niantic Bay YC's coordinates are:

41deg 18'44.5'' N Latitude 72 deg 12'1.5'' W Longitude

We are distinguished by a curving breakwater extending eastward protecting slips, and an extensive mooring field located to the north of the breakwater.

There are a few rock outcroppings and hazards that are well marked by navigational aids. Niantic Bay generally averages about 20' depth, 12'-15' closer to shore, and 8' at the Club's T-Dock. The rise and fall of the tide maxes out at about 3 1/2'

The "Hole in the Wall" beach is located in the northwest corner of Niantic Bay about 3/4 of a mile north/northeast of the Club's breakwater. It is just east of a high point of land known as McCook's Point

3) If by Inner Niantic Bay Launching Ramps and Marinas

There are several marinas and launching ramps on inner Niantic Bay that leads up the Niantic River. Proceed out through the narrow channel at the SE end of the inner bay (controlling depths are at least 5' at low water) land under the highway bascule bridge (vert cl. 32', hor. cl. 100') and through the RR bascule bridge (vert. cl. 11', hor. cl. 45'). Turn west after clearing marker C "1" for the 'Hole in the Wall' beach - I mile. Watch for fish traps extending out from shore. Turn southwest for NBYC - 1.25 miles.
